Shopify Migration

Same catalog, a bigger ecosystem

Brands usually leave BigCommerce for the Shopify app ecosystem, the checkout, or the pool of people who know the platform. The catalog structures are close enough that the data moves well, but the URL patterns, option sets and app stack are different enough to catch you out.

I handle the whole move: data, theme, apps, redirects and tracking, with a staging rehearsal before anything goes live. If you want the store redesigned during the move, that is covered under Shopify theme development.

What you get

What the migration covers

Option sets to variants — BigCommerce option sets and modifiers rebuilt as Shopify variants, options and line-item properties.
Customer & order history — customers, addresses, groups and full order history imported for support and reporting.
Category to collection map — nested categories rebuilt as smart and manual collections with clean navigation.
App-by-app replacement — each BigCommerce app matched to a Shopify equivalent, with costs compared side by side.
Redirect plan — every product, category, brand and blog URL mapped with 301s, then crawled after launch to confirm.
Theme rebuild — a fast OS 2.0 theme that keeps what converts on your current store and fixes what does not.

How it works

From first call to launch

Migration audit
A free call and a read-only audit of your current store: catalog, customers, orders, URLs, apps and integrations.
Mapping & redirect plan
Every product, collection, page and URL mapped, with a 301 plan that keeps your rankings intact.
Staging rehearsal
The full migration runs on a staging store first, checked line by line before anything goes live.
Cutover & 30-day watch
A planned cutover window, then 30 days of monitoring rankings, orders and tracking so nothing slips.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is BigCommerce to Shopify a hard migration?

It is one of the smoother ones for data. The care goes into URLs, option logic and apps, which is where most rankings and conversions are lost.

Can you keep our current design?

Yes. I can rebuild your current design as a Shopify theme, refresh it, or start from a strong base theme, depending on budget.

Do you move reviews?

Yes. Reviews are exported and imported into a Shopify review app such as Judge.me or Okendo, attached to the right products.

How much does it cost?

Project work is fixed-price against a defined scope, so you know the full cost before we start. The discovery call is always free.

How fast can you start?

Discovery calls happen within days; kickoff is usually 1-2 weeks out. If you have a hard launch date, say so on the first call and I will tell you plainly if it is achievable.
