Hire Infrastructure as Code Expert — infrastructure you can rebuild, review, and trust
Click-ops infrastructure is a liability that compounds: nobody knows what exists, changes are unreviewed, environments drift, and disaster recovery is a hope rather than a procedure. Infrastructure as code turns your cloud into a codebase — reviewed, versioned, tested — where staging matches production because both come from the same modules. An IaC expert does not just write Terraform; they design module boundaries, state strategy, and workflows your team will actually follow six months later.
I'm Omer Muneer Qazi, a Dubai-based Fractional CTO & Solutions Architect with 15+ years of experience and 100+ projects delivered across 6 countries. Prefer code-first IaC in TypeScript or Python? See my Pulumi expertise for that flavor.
Your cloud, as a codebase
Module architecture
Reusable modules with clear boundaries — networking, compute, data, identity — versioned and documented, so new services compose infrastructure instead of copy-pasting it.
State strategy
Remote state with locking, per-environment and per-layer separation, and state surgery procedures for the day something needs untangling — because state design is where Terraform projects live or die.
CI/CD for infrastructure
Plan-on-PR workflows with policy checks, so infrastructure changes get the same review rigor as application code — no more applies from someone’s laptop at midnight.
Drift detection & remediation
Scheduled drift scans with alerting and a remediation playbook — so the console-clickers cannot quietly diverge your environments from the code.
Environment parity
Dev, staging, and production from the same modules with environment-specific inputs — ending the classic ‘works in staging’ class of deployment surprises.
Disaster recovery as code
The ability to rebuild your entire estate from the repo — tested, not theorized — which is the real ROI of infrastructure as code.
From click-ops to code
A structured engagement with no surprises — you’ll always know what’s happening and what’s next.
Estate audit
We inventory what exists — often via import tooling — and map the gap between your actual cloud and your documented cloud.
Module design
Boundaries, naming, tagging, and state layout designed for how your team works, not for a textbook.
Codification waves
Infrastructure imported and codified in priority order — networking and identity first, then data, then workloads — with zero-downtime refactors.
Workflow & training
Your team learns the plan/apply workflow, policy checks, and state procedures through pairing — so the code stays the source of truth after handover.
Why hire an infrastructure as code expert through a Fractional CTO
IaC engagements fail on adoption, not syntax: modules nobody reuses, state everyone fears, workflows the team bypasses. I design for the team you have — their skills, their habits — so the codebase survives contact with real engineers.
I review module architecture and state strategy myself, because those two decisions determine whether your IaC is an asset or a second mess. To codify your cloud, contact me.
Frequently asked questions
Terraform, Bicep, or Pulumi?
Terraform for multi-cloud and the largest module ecosystem; Bicep for Azure-only shops that want first-class Azure support; Pulumi when your team thinks in TypeScript/Python rather than HCL. We match the tool to your team, not to trends.
Can you convert our existing click-ops cloud to code?
Yes — this is the most common engagement: audit, import existing resources, codify in waves, then lock down console changes with policy. Expect some cleanup; years of click-ops always hide surprises.
How do you handle Terraform state safely?
Remote backends with locking, separate state per environment and layer, no secrets in state (or encrypted backends), and documented procedures for the rare state surgery. State design is reviewed before a single resource is written.
What about secrets in IaC?
Never in the code. Secrets come from vaults or managed secret stores, referenced by the code — with rotation procedures documented. We audit for leaked secrets as part of every engagement.
How long does codification take?
A typical startup estate takes three to six weeks; larger enterprises with hundreds of resources run in phased quarters. We prioritize by risk: networking, identity, and data first.
