Headless Commerce

Headless when the business case earns it

Headless commerce is the right answer for a specific set of problems: app-like performance demands, content-rich editorial storefronts, or multi-market frontends on one commerce core. It is the wrong answer when a fast Liquid theme would do. When you hire a headless commerce developer here, you get that judgment first — I have talked clients out of headless more than once. Options are detailed on my hire page.

I am Omer Muneer Qazi, Senior Shopify Developer (ex-Integriti) and full-stack engineer with 15+ years across React, Next.js, Node.js, and the Storefront API. I build Hydrogen and Next.js storefronts as production systems — cached deliberately, monitored properly — inside my ecommerce practice, with SEO handled natively rather than bolted on.

What you get

Headless architecture, production-grade

  • Architecture decision — an honest build-vs-headless assessment with TCO modeling — Hydrogen, Next.js, or fast Liquid, recommended on your traffic, team, and roadmap.
  • Hydrogen storefronts — Remix-based builds with server components and streaming SSR on Oxygen — Shopify's native headless stack, done properly.
  • Next.js storefronts — app-router builds on the Storefront API for teams already invested in Vercel — with caching semantics designed, not defaulted.
  • CMS-powered content — Sanity or Contentful driving editorial, landing pages, and guides — merchandisers publish without developer tickets.
  • Commerce integrations — search, reviews, loyalty, personalization, and analytics wired into the headless stack — the ecosystem work that separates demos from stores.
  • Performance budgets — Lighthouse and Core Web Vitals gates in CI — the storefront stays fast after launch, not just on demo day.
How it works

From assessment to sub-second

  1. Headless assessment

A free call on whether headless earns its keep for your store — with the TCO math in writing before anything is scoped.

  2. Technical blueprint

Data model, caching strategy, CMS choice, and integration inventory — a fixed-scope plan approved before code.

  3. Build in the open

Preview deployments per milestone with performance budgets enforced — you feel the speed accumulating.

  4. Launch & handover

Load testing, cache tuning, monitoring, a runbook for your team, and 30 days of post-launch support.

Why Omer

Why hire Omer

  • 15+ years of full-stack engineering — React, Next.js, Node.js, and API-first systems across Phaedra Solutions, Integriti, Napollo, Nabidios, and EverestX.
  • Senior Shopify Developer (ex-Integriti) — Storefront API depth plus the release-cadence discipline headless demands.
  • 100+ projects delivered, $25M+ in client revenue enabled across 6 countries.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Headless or a fast Liquid theme — which do we need?
If your goals are speed and conversion on a standard catalog, a well-built OS 2.0 theme usually wins on cost and maintainability. Headless earns its keep for editorial-rich brands, app-like interactions, or multi-frontend architectures. The assessment gives you the answer with numbers.
Hydrogen or Next.js?
Hydrogen for the deepest Shopify integration and Oxygen hosting with no separate infrastructure bill; Next.js if your team is already Vercel-native or needs non-Shopify data sources. I build both and recommend on your team's reality.
What does headless cost to run?
More than Liquid: hosting, monitoring, and ongoing framework upgrades. Expect 2–4x the build cost of a premium theme and a real maintenance line item — the blueprint models TCO before you commit.
How do you handle SEO on headless?
Natively: server-rendered metadata, hreflang, sitemaps, and structured data — plus redirect matrices from your current URLs. Headless SEO failures come from client-side rendering shortcuts; I do not take them.
Who maintains the storefront after launch?
Your team with my runbook, or me on retainer keeping dependencies, API versions, and caching current. Either way, you own the code and the infrastructure.
