Hire Fractional Chief of Staff — CEO leverage, part-time

Not every CEO needs a full-time chief of staff — but many would benefit enormously from senior leverage a few days a week: decisions prepared properly, commitments tracked, priorities managed, and the important-but-not-urgent work actually moving. A fractional chief of staff provides that leverage part-time, for leaders whose scale does not yet justify the full-time role.

I'm Omer Muneer Qazi, a Dubai-based Fractional CTO & Solutions Architect with 15+ years of experience and 100+ projects delivered across 6 countries. I structure fractional leverage roles with the same rigour as full-time ones — when the need grows into daily partnership, a full-time chief of staff is the natural progression.

What You Get

Leverage, sized to your scale

How It Works

Part-time presence, full-time leverage

A structured engagement with no surprises — you’ll always know what’s happening and what’s next.

Why Omer

Why hire a fractional chief of staff through a Fractional CTO

Part-time leverage roles fail when they become glorified assistance — tasks without judgment. I define these roles around leverage, not labour: decision support, accountability tracking, and initiative driving. The person must be senior enough that their pushback carries weight with you, because a chief of staff who cannot challenge the CEO is just scheduling with extra steps.

If your leverage gap is real but full-time is premature, let us talk — we will size the role to what your scale actually needs.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a part-time chief of staff really be effective?

Yes, when the role is designed for leverage rather than coverage. Decision prep, tracking, and priority management do not require daily presence — they require seniority, discipline, and a rhythm the CEO trusts. What part-time cannot do is same-day firefighting; that is not the mandate.

How is this different from a virtual assistant?

A virtual assistant executes tasks you define; a fractional chief of staff exercises judgment you rely on. The VA needs instructions; the chief of staff brings recommendations. Different seniority, different value, different economics — confusing them wastes both.

How many days a week makes sense?

Typically one to three, depending on the CEO's load and the number of active initiatives. The right answer emerges from the leverage audit — enough presence to stay in the flow, structured so the days between are productive, not idle.

Will my team take direction from a part-time chief of staff?

On defined matters, yes — when the CEO explicitly grants the mandate. The team needs to hear, once, clearly, that this person carries the CEO's authority on tracking, coordination, and preparation. After that, competence does the rest.

When should we go full-time?

When the leverage gap exceeds what part-time can cover: decisions queuing for the next session, initiatives stalling between visits, or the CEO's load growing past the arrangement. The quarterly review is designed to catch that moment honestly.
