Many execution problems are really coordination problems. Teams report activity, yet the customer-facing outcome remains out of reach. Priorities change without decisions being recorded, and work moves between people without an agreed definition of completion. A useful operating plan makes those handoffs visible.
How I approach it
Pick a near-term outcome and map the work required to achieve it. Separate assumptions that need validation from tasks that can proceed immediately. Give each workstream an owner, a dependency list, and a concrete completion condition. Review progress around decisions and evidence rather than the number of tasks started.
